Centenarian celebrated at Plumpton

We’re thrilled to celebrate our newest centenarian, Francis (Lloyd) Gould, who turned 100 recently at our St Francis’ Residential Aged Care home in Plumpton surrounded by family, friends and our community.

Born in Parkes in 1926, Lloyd has lived a life filled with love, hard work, and quiet strength.

He met his wife Vera while working on her father’s farm, and together they raised two children, Carol and Kenneth. He went on to enjoy a long career with State Rail, starting as an engineer and later moving into a supervisory role.

Around 23 years ago, Lloyd, Vera and their son moved into our Retirement Village at Plumpton, where they spent many happy years together. After Vera and Kenny passed away, Lloyd moved into our residential aged care home in 2022, where he continues to be a much-loved member of our community.

Lloyd marked his milestone birthday with his nephew Greg and wife Jan, members of the local Emmanuel Church, and some very special messages including letters from King Charles, Governor General Samantha Mostyn and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

When asked his secret to a long and happy life: “Well, I simply refuse to die” he said with a grin, a line that had everyone cheering and clapping.

A wonderful celebration for a wonderful man.

Happy 100th birthday, Lloyd!
