Congratulations to Karinya Residential Aged Care’s Deputy Facility Manager, Keryn Date, who has been named the Corowa Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 Outstanding Employee.

Announced at Saturday night’s awards ceremony, the honour recognises Keryn’s extraordinary dedication, compassion, and leadership - qualities that have made her “the heart and soul of Karinya”.

Taking out the prestigious award, Keryn said being recognised for doing a job she is so passionate about was both humbling and incredibly meaningful.

“It was a complete shock just to be nominated, let alone win,” she beamed.
“I honestly feel so humbled receiving this award. While it may be an individual honour, I wouldn’t be able to do my job as well as I do without the amazing staff at Karinya behind me.
“For me, the best part about working in aged care is the residents - the joy they bring, the wisdom they share, and the privilege of being their voice when they can no longer speak for themselves.”

She also extended heartfelt thanks to Regional Manager Jennifer Tull for the nomination and ongoing support.

“Thank you, Jen, for the nomination and for your incredible leadership in the Riverina - it truly means the world.”

Keryn’s passion for aged care is evident in everything she does. Her unwavering commitment to residents, staff, and the broader Karinya community is matched only by her exceptional work ethic and calm, can-do attitude.

Whether she’s managing rosters, cooking meals, washing clothes, or dressing up for lifestyle events, Keryn brings the same energy and care to every task - always going above and beyond to ensure the wellbeing of others.

She’s also the person staff turn to in the middle of the night for advice and support, always ready to answer the phone with reassurance and guidance. Her reliability and professionalism have earned her the deep respect of her colleagues, while her warmth and empathy have made her beloved by residents.

As Regional Manager Jen Tull shared in the award submission:

“Keryn has been a huge support for me - always available at the end of the phone to offer advice or encouragement. Her insights and guidance have been invaluable, and I honestly could not do my job without her.”

Keryn’s recognition is a proud moment not just for Karinya, but for all of us at Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT). Her example reminds us of the power of compassion, teamwork, and wholehearted service.
