Sustainable Procurement & Modern Slavery: We’re proud to announce that our fifth Modern Slavery Statement will be published this month — reaffirming our commitment to ethical sourcing and human dignity across our supply chains.
This year’s statement includes:
A renewed focus on transparency and supplier accountability
Stronger expectations for vendors through our attestation framework
A refreshed education and training program, including onboarding for new starters
A growing partnership with the Australian Catholic Anti-Slavery Network (ACAN)
More than a document, the Modern Slavery Statement is a call to action, ensuring every dollar we spend reflects our values. Our Procurement team and Modern Slavery Working Group have been instrumental in driving this work forward, ensuring that ethical awareness is embedded into everyday decisions across SCC.
SCC’s LED Lighting Initiative: As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and smarter energy use, we’ve partnered with The Green Guys Group to upgrade lighting at 14 Residential Aged Care sites with high-efficiency LED technology. This isn’t just a swap of bulbs, it’s a strategic, sustainable upgrade that aligns with circular economy principles:
Longer lifespan LEDs mean less waste and fewer replacements
Outdated fittings are responsibly recycled
Energy use is expected to drop by up to 90%, dramatically reducing our carbon footprint
And over $183,000 in government rebates will be unlocked and reinvested into other sustainability projects across SCC.
It’s a win-win: lower emissions, lower costs, and better environments for residents and staff.
LED lighting is just one part of how we’re embedding the Living Care: Action Plan for People and Planet into every corner of the business, from the lights overhead to the systems we rely on every day.
