Celebrating Our Centenarians

At Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT), we are privileged to be home to more than 50 remarkable centenarians.
Residents who have lived through a century of change, growth, challenges and extraordinary moments.
To highlight, honour and celebrate more than 100 years of life, we created a special series of festive-themed videos capturing the wisdom, humour and reflections of these incredible people.
This project was born from our deep admiration for their resilience and the belief that reaching 100 years or more is not just an age; it’s a milestone worthy of celebration.
Filmed via Teams, each resident shared light-hearted Christmas reflections, which were sincere, joyful and often wonderfully unexpected.
Many spoke fondly of the people and traditions that have made their Christmases special, reminding us that connection has always been at the heart of the season.
Beyond the festive questions, the residents also offered reflections on a century of life and while these moments – often simple, profound and often delightfully humorous - highlight just how much wisdom sits quietly within our communities.
Each video captures a moment of joy, reflection and celebration and an opportunity to acknowledge the strength, spirit and wisdom of those who have lived 100 years and beyond.
Their stories are a gift to us all, especially during this special time of year.
