“Embraysing” food technology

We’re thrilled to share that Embrayse, our new digital meal ordering platform, is now fully operational across all Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) Residential Aged Care homes.

Following a successful pilot program in late 2024 at Tweed Heads, Banora Point, Penrith, and Plumpton, Embrayse has proven to be a valuable addition for both residents and staff and with overwhelmingly positive feedback has now been rolled out organisation wide.

Embrayse is a simple, user-friendly digital platform that allows staff to enter resident meal orders directly via tablets or mobile devices, eliminating the need for manual, paper-based processes.

To enhance the overall dining experience, menus and appetising meal images are also displayed on TV screens in each home’s communal areas, helping residents make more informed choices.

The platform is designed to:

  • Give residents greater choice and flexibility with their meals
  • Help staff manage dietary needs and preferences more effectively
  • Improve communication between care, kitchen, and management teams
  • Reduce paperwork and streamline mealtime workflows

Embrayse is more than just a technology upgrade - it’s an important step forward in our commitment to resident-centred care.

With the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards coming into effect on 1 November 2025, Embrayse is helping us prepare by:

  • Enhancing residents' autonomy and engagement during mealtimes
  • Increasing accuracy in dietary management
  • Creating more efficient, collaborative workflows for staff

By empowering both residents and team members, we’re building a stronger, more responsive care environment.

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and collaboration of many across our organisation.

A heartfelt thank you to Area Manager-Residential Care Xolani Maloi, whose leadership was instrumental in turning pilot insights into a successful full-scale rollout.

We also extend our gratitude to the teams at our four pilot homes, Tweed Heads, Banora Point, Penrith, and Plumpton, for their early adoption, enthusiasm, and invaluable feedback.

Special thanks go to our IT team for their technical expertise, and to our Project Team for their dedication and coordination throughout the journey.

Together, we’re creating more meaningful mealtime experiences and building a better future for aged care.
